BALINESE FOOD & FAMILY TRADITIONS
Authentic Balinese Cooking Class Near Ubud
Learn authentic Balinese cooking in a local family compound in Pejeng Kangin, Gianyar, just outside Ubud. Discover traditional ingredients and techniques, prepare five Balinese dishes and share the meal with your host.

Learn Balinese Cooking From a Local Family
This experience is rooted in home cooking and family knowledge. Putu learned cooking by helping his grandmother and grew up around his grandparents' rice-farming life.
Inside the family compound, guests can learn practical cooking techniques while hearing the stories and traditions connected with Balinese food.
Discover Traditional Ingredients and Spices
Balinese cooking depends on combinations of local ingredients, herbs and spices. Your host guides you through ingredients used during the session, including galangal, lemongrass and turmeric.
You can also learn about Bumbu Bali and how a traditional mortar and pestle is used to crush and combine fresh spices and aromatics. The focus is practical, so you can understand what you are doing rather than simply watch a demonstration.

Cook Five Balinese Dishes
